Successful Franchisees Strike Again with Fourth Store Opening

Long-time multi franchisees, the Fioretti Family, continue their impressive streak as they open yet another Zarraffa’s drive thru store today in Lawnton.

A wholly family-owned and operated store, Lawnton represents the 91st store opening for the Zarraffa’s Coffee and the 4th franchise for Ralph Fioretti, his wife Denise and daughter Candice.

Since making the move from Adelaide to Queensland back in 2006, the Fioretti’s have become proud franchisees of four Zarraffa’s Coffee locations in Carseldine, Boondall, Mango Hill and, from today, Lawnton.

“Joining the Zarraffa’s Coffee family was a leap of faith, but one that has paid off as we have learned and experienced more than we could have ever hoped for,” said Ralph.

“The decision to grow our franchise of Zarraffa’s stores stemmed from our love for the brand, not to mention the ongoing customer loyalty that always seems to follow.”

Zarraffa’s Coffee CEO, Marnie Sheldon, believes the continual reinvestment of many franchisees, like the Fioretti’s, back into the Australian-owned brand is what has driven the success of Zarraffa’s for over two decades.

“Ralph and Denise are passionate operators, now with Candice – the second generation – managing their stores.”

“With Strathpine being right next door, Lawnton is able to deliver accessible coffee in the north of Brisbane, consolidating the Zarraffa’s Coffee footprint in the SEQ region.”

This drive thru store is ideal for providing commuters, workers and parents doing the daily school runs with an easily accessible way of getting their coffee in the morning, as well as providing those who want to stop and enjoy a nice cup of coffee with a great in-store experience.

“Having gained experience operating both a store and a drive thru already, I am confident our expert team will succeed in offering exceptional service with a great product through a faster paced drive thru system, as well as that in store,” said Ralph.

“We pride ourselves on giving locals the ‘Zarraffa’s Fioretti’ experience, as they enjoy one of our delicious coffees at Zarraffa’s Lawnton.”

Zarraffa’s Coffee Lawnton is located at Shop 4/665-685 Gympie Rd, Lawnton QLD 4501.

Opening hours: 5am – 10pm, seven days a week

UNITED BLENDS – THE MANY FACES OF ZARRAFFA’S

Throughout the month of January, we will be showcasing some of our talented team members from around the country!

Australian-owned and operated, for the past two decades Zarraffa’s has grown as a family of businesses and here are just a few of our familiar faces to tell you their story, in their own words!

Trent Moody and Oliver Humphry

Franchisees

Zarraffa’s Coffee Belmont North, NSW

What did you do before you joined Zarraffa’s?

Trent: I have worked for Zarraffa’s since 2009, in many different roles. I’ve worked up from a barista in training, to a store manager and I’ve also worked for Zarraffa’s Head Office.

Oliver: I’ve been with Zarraffa’s since 2010, but have always worked in hospitality.

Number of years with Zarraffa’s?

Trent: I’m coming up on ten years now!

Oliver: I’ve worked with Zarraffa’s for nine years.

When was the store established?

We just had our first birthday in December!

What is your favourite Zarraffa’s beverage?

Funnily enough, we both pretty much have the same drink every day! We love a Short double ristretto Caffe Latte, made at 50 degrees.

Tell us more about working in your local community:

Bringing Zarraffa’s Coffee to New South Wales was always going to be a challenge. We weren’t sure how the brand would be received down here, especially as there were no other stores in the state, but it has really taken off! This is a testament to the product that we serve and our mission to serve amazing coffee with even better customer service. Zarraffa’s really is more than just a cup of coffee and that’s evident by how loyal our customers are!

We have some amazing customers who have supported us since day one. One couple who really stand out for us are our regular customers Bec and Graham. When we first opened, we were both working long hours opening and closing the store each day. One weekend Bec brought us in a batch of muffins she’d made at home, because she wanted to do something nice for us and make sure that we were looking after ourselves. Since that weekend she bakes something every single weekend and brings it down to the store for our team, which is so lovely.

For us it’s just about getting out there and interacting with every facet of the Belmont community. Belmont really has its own ecosystem, and we’ve met people who have lived here their entire lives and really love the area. We are really enjoying being involved in the lives of our customers, building relationships with our community and making the store feel like a second home.

Tell us more about working in your local community:

When Kalgoorlie was hit with a massive storm that cut the power to most of the town, our store still had power, so customers were coming in droves to get coffee! It was such a surreal experience to be serving our locals when some of their homes had been destroyed and they had nowhere to go.

The whole town was in distress but it was a great feeling to be able to serve people and our community during such a difficult time.

We also love giving back to the local community in a number of different ways, and currently sponsor a local softball team, the local Auskick program, and a number of PCYC youth incentive programs. We also offer a Christmas dinner to the homeless in Kalgoorlie.

I love meeting all of the different people who visit our store from all walks of life, and I’m lucky enough to work with my sister Cody and my children, Reivyn and Joseph! You could say coffee was in our blood!

Ralph, Denise and Candice Fioretti, Franchisees

Zarraffa’s Coffee Mango Hill and Carseldine, QLD

What did you do before you joined Zarraffa’s?

We had been working for a building company before we became part of the Zarraffa’s family. Candice (Ralph and Denise’s daughter and franchisee) was working for Hilton Hotels before she moved up to Queensland from South Australia to help open the business in 2009.

Number of years with Zarraffa’s?

2019 will make ten years with the brand!

When was the store established?

Our first store, Carseldine, (which we adore!) is nine years old and our drive thru at Mango Hill is three years old.

What is your favourite Zarraffa’s beverage?

Our favourite drinks are Espressos and strong Caffe Lattes! We love, and have become very accustomed to, the taste of our African Masai blend over the years.

Tell us more about working in your local community:

We have been so lucky to create strong friendships and relationships with regular customers over the years.

A highlight for Candice was the lengths she went to after being confided in by a customer that she was pregnant. Candice was told even before our customer had announced it to her husband! It goes to show what coffee means to our customers; it was important that Candice knew to make her regular coffee on decaf – all without her husband becoming suspicious!

These are the moments you hold onto forever. You don’t realise how big a part you play in someone’s life until something like that happens.

We love that the Zarraffa’s brand supports families far and wide. From our small family business here in Queensland, to the work that the company does with the Meru Coffee Co Op and community in Africa. We have also been fortunate enough to partner and support local schools and sporting clubs in the surrounding areas of our stores.

Our most treasured community involvement, one in which we involve all our staff, is our ongoing support of local special needs children. We help to raise funds to supply toys and educational equipment to local schools and holiday programs in our communities.
