A proud 3rd place in our first Roasters Jam

An annual invite-only competition showcasing the best coffee roasters in Queensland, Roasters Jam selects only five specialty coffee roasters to take part in the event, this year held on Tuesday, 8 February.

Each team is given a mystery coffee bean from International Coffee Traders, with two weeks to experiment to perfect a roast of the coffee.

Teams are then asked to present their roasting method, philosophy and samples of the roasted batch, as well as providing a traditional cupping for judging - all in front of a crowd of spectators.

Zarraffa’s CEO, Marnie Sheldon, said: “It’s great to be included in the mix with a range of specialty coffee independent roasters for this event. We have over 25 years of roasting know-how and our team have delivered in their first invitational Roasters Jam event.”

The event is run by Coffee Commune - a dedicated world-class facility housing education programs, resources, expert speakers, tools and state of the art equipment for café and hospitality professionals, coffee enthusiasts, roasters, businesses, and suppliers.

“By all accounts the competition was fierce, and with only 6 points between our roast and the winning cup, and we couldn’t be happier with our team’s efforts,” said Marnie.

We look forward to next year’s event!
