Supporting Farmers

At Zarraffa’s, we believe in supporting the coffee growers who support us.

We acknowledge that consumer awareness for ethically sourced products is increasing, and have aligned ourselves with the Rainforest Alliance (RFA). Products with the Rainforest Alliance Certified™ seal are grown and harvested on farms and forests that follow sustainable practices.

Rainforest Alliance (RFA) is a not-for-profit international organisation, committed to working towards better ways of farming, creating improved working conditions for farmers, workers and their families and promoting ecological sustainability around the world.

We work closely with our coffee growing partners at Meru Coffee Co-op at the base of Mount Kenya, to ensure that they are able to operate sustainably for years to come, including recently planting a new seedling nursery.

For the first time we are opening the doors to our HQ, giving coffee lovers the opportunity to tour our Roastery facilities, and learn more about our story and entire coffee journey, from bean to cup. Click here to learn more.

Local Ingredients

At Zarraffa’s Coffee we are proud to source Australian ingredients for our food and beverage products.

As well as roasting our own coffee beans at our headquarters in Eagleby, QLD, we use Norco Milk and all syrups and sauces are produced locally in Queensland.

All of our food items are delivered fresh to each store from our local suppliers.

reducing waste

Zarraffa’s Coffee is committed to doing our part when it comes to conservation.

Our reusable cups range, together with our stainless-steel straws, are a result of our efforts to minimise our impact on the environment and move towards a more sustainable future.

A stainless steel straw may seem like a drop in the ocean but by swapping single-use for reusable stainless steel, we’re working towards protecting our beautiful oceans and precious marine life.

We are partnering with our suppliers to develop reusable and recyclable options for our customers, including investigating alternatives to our popular takeaway coffee cup.

Customers are invited to use reusable crockery and cutlery when dining in store and are eligible for a complimentary upsize and an extra shot when they reuse one of our stainless steel tumblers or thermos cups.

At Zarraffa’s HQ, our roastery, packaging and warehouse facilities are dedicated to reducing waste by recycling cardboard packaging products, minimising delivery schedules and donating leftover coffee husks, which are used by local business, schools, in gardens and in agricultural practices.

BIODEGRADABLE OKAPI CAPSULES

At Zarraffa’s Coffee we have made the conscious choice to switch to 100% biodegradable and compostable Okapi coffee capsules.

Standard coffee capsules take between 150 and 500 years to breakdown in landfill and billions are dumped every year.

Okapi capsules are made entirely from sugarcane and sugar beet. This means the complete capsule, including the foil, is made from plant materials and can be thrown in the bin guilt-free, eventually breaking down and composting.

Okapi capsules also support coffee communities through the purchase of Single Origin coffee and are manufactured locally in southeast Queensland, supporting Aussie-owned business.

All of this adds up to you contributing to sustainable purchasing in your home or office… and another reason to love your daily grind.
