Behind the counter top

Meet Sheridan, who joined Zarraffa’s Coffee as a Barista and found herself on an unexpected journey of growth. Initially drawn to the role for its dynamic work environment, she soon discovered that Zarraffa’s offered much more than a typical job.

"When I started at Zarraffa’s, I was a barista and I’ve now progressed to a supervisor," she said. “What appealed to me was the flexibility, the number of hours, and that it seemed like a really fun place to work.”

As a Supervisor, Sheridan has gained valuable skills that have increased her confidence and leadership abilities, skills she knows will help her in the future.

“I like working at Zarraffa’s because even at 5 am, the vibes are really good. You have a coffee in your hand, and you’re working with your friends.”

Through structured training programs and continuous mentoring, Zarraffa’s supports anyone looking to become a Manager or Team Leader.

Climbing the ladder from barista to manager

For Katrelle, Zarraffa’s is more than just a job, it’s a place that offers stability and flexibility, especially important for her as a mum.

“I first started out as a Barista in-training, then progressed to a Barista, then a Supervisor and now I’m a Manager,” Katrelle said.

“The biggest appeal in working at Zarraffa’s is the fast-paced environment, how excited everyone is to come to work and how fun it is interacting with people every day.”

Katrelle’s career at Zarraffa’s is a testament to the growth opportunities available within the company and added, “we are always looking for people who are personable, willing to learn and are enthusiastic to join the team”.

Finding workplace confidence

Even those just starting their careers find Zarraffa’s a place full of potential and opportunity.

Mia started her journey with the Aussie-owned company with no prior experience in making coffee, but her determination to learn and grow quickly paid off.

“I’ve been able to progress from never making a coffee to becoming a barista to now working towards becoming a supervisor,” she said.

For Mia, the positive work environment and supportive colleagues make her job at Zarraffa’s so enjoyable which has also significantly boosted her social skills.

“I was really shy before I started here, but I feel like I’ve become a much more bubbly version of myself.”

Balancing work & school

Like Mia, Ben is also in his early career and currently working at Zarraffa’s while completing his education.  Starting as a Food Prepper in 2019, he has since become a Junior Barista – showing you’re never too young to progress.

 “What I really enjoy about Zarraffa’s is the customer communication and how we connect with our customers,” Ben said.

Balancing school and work can be challenging, however Zarraffa’s flexibility makes it possible for Ben to succeed in both areas.

“Zarraffa’s works well with my school life and whenever I can work, they allow me to work - it’s a nice balance,” he said.

 “I’ve faced a couple of challenges, most notably multi-tasking, but getting to work more and more has helped me push through that,” he shared. “I would recommend working at Zarraffa’s for the environment. It’s always so vibrant and loving.”
