We have migrated to South Australia - Munno Para now pouring!
ZARRAFFA’S COFFEE OPENS FIRST FLAGSHIP STORE IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Australia’s leading specialty coffee retailer, Zarraffa’s Coffee, has officially opened its first flagship South Australian store in Adelaide’s north at Munno Para today, marking a significant milestone in the brand’s national expansion strategy.
The Munno Para drive thru site is the first of its kind in South Australia, following the announcement earlier this year that Zarraffa’s Coffee had acquired Adelaide-based specialty coffee group – First Things First Coffee – aiming to bolster its footprint across the state.
Proudly owned and operated by longstanding franchisees, Bill and Claire Zavos, alongside their sons Sam and Dillon, who already run four successful Zarraffa’s Coffee stores in Queensland’s south east at Helensvale North, Oxenford, Runaway Bay and Bethania.
Originally from Adelaide, the Zavos family have returned to their roots to bring the brand they love to the local community.
Bill grew up in Salisbury and owned several small businesses in Adelaide before relocating to Queensland, where the family became one of Zarraffa’s established multi-site operators over the past 15 years and currently employ over 170 team members across their stores.
“We are a local family returning to Adelaide, to bring the brand we love to a city where coffee culture thrives,” said Franchisee Bill Zavos.
“It’s incredibly special for us to steer the operations of Zarraffa’s Coffee’s first South Australian store, starting in Munno Para where we have strong community ties. We can’t wait to serve locals their daily cup and create opportunities for people in the area.”
The new Munno Para location will employ more than 30 locals through a dedicated training and recruitment program and will deliver the brand’s signature specialty coffee experience to the region.
Since opening their first Zarraffa’s Coffee store in 2010, the Zavos family’s journey with the brand reflects a deep passion for coffee and community, which will now extend to supporting local sporting clubs, schools, and community groups in Adelaide.
Zarraffa’s Coffee Founder and Managing Director, Kenton Campbell, said the launch into Adelaide represented a defining moment in the company’s almost 30-year history.
“For us, South Australia has always been on the horizon and now we are proud to say we’re finally here, ready to fly our flag in Adelaide,” Mr Campbell said.
“This is not just about opening a store, it’s about growing our family, strengthening our connection with local coffee-loving communities, and setting the foundation for further brand expansion across the state.”
“Earlier this year, we took a bold step with the acquisition to accelerate our expansion plans. The move not only reinforced our commitment to the Adelaide market, but it created a meaningful bridge between Zarraffa’s heritage and the local coffee legacy that was built by the First Things First Coffee founders.”
“Our ambition in South Australia still remains clear – to grow sustainably, authentically and with great respect for local values and the vibrant coffee culture. Munno Para is our cornerstone, and with the Zavos family at the helm, it’s just the beginning of what we aim to build across Adelaide,” added Mr Campbell.
Leading the way in retail coffee innovation, Zarraffa’s continues to redefine how Australians enjoy their daily coffee with the Munno Para location primed for the brand’s latest drive thru model.
Thoughtfully designed with a smaller footprint to a traditional store, the latest iteration of the model allows the brand to be nimbler with site selection, while still prioritising added convenience for busy customers on-the-go and offering the full food and beverage menu without compromising on quality.
Zarraffa’s Coffee Munno Para is set to become a new local favourite, offering South Australians a taste of what has made the brand one of the country’s most trusted specialty coffee retailers.
Since its inception in 2023, the model has evolved from a purely drive thru concept to now feature a walk-up window.
Unlike a traditional full-service Zarraffa’s store which typically includes an internal café setting, this compact format is focused on delivering speed, convenience, and adaptability in both metropolitan and regional areas.
It will feature Zarraffa’s renowned range of signature coffee blends, along with a selection of delicious food options including the brand’s new freshly baked in store range, breakfast items, and savoury snacks to complement the coffee experience.
Zarraffa’s (pronounced Za-raff-as) comes from the Arabic word ‘Zarafa’ which means ‘Giraffe’. The well-known and much-loved Australian brand was established in Queensland in 1996 after being founded by Kenton and Rachel Campbell.
Originating from the backstreets of Southport on the Gold Coast, Zarraffa’s Coffee has brewed into an award-winning enterprise with $200 million in group turnover.
With a commitment to quality, Zarraffa’s unique blend of coffee is freshly roasted onsite in its state-of-the-art roastery based at the brand’s Headquarters located in Eagleby, Queensland.
Zarraffa’s Coffee proudly operates over 80 locations across Queensland, New South Wales, Western Australia and now South Australia. The brand’s strategic growth strategy is currently in play with sights set on expanding to over 200 locations nationally over the next 7 years in the lead up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Zarraffa’s Coffee Munno Para is located at 2 Curtis Road, Munno Para, SA 5115.
Opening hours: Monday to Sunday, 5:00am – 8:00pm | Public Holidays, 6:00am – 6:00pm
