Zarraffa’s Hits New South Wales
Our first store south of the border signals major expansion, bringing with it a unique Aussie-born coffee experience to a whole new market of java lovers.
The brand-new Belmont North store is located on the picturesque shores of Lake Macquarie, renowned for its protected waterways, boating enthusiasts and much-loved coffee culture.
When new store franchisees Trent Moody and Oliver Humphry open the doors in mid-December they will achieve two firsts: the first Zarraffa’s store in New South Wales and the first as part of the Zarraffa’s Area Developer concept.
The pair also bring with them extensive coffee knowledge and operational know-how, having both worked through the barista ranks and were previous store managers.
Zarraffa’s Founder Kenton Campbell said he was extremely proud to see the duo’s dream of owning a store come to fruition and that they have both worked tirelessly to build the franchise businesses of other owners, while still maintaining the dream to one day run their very own store.
“We have always placed high value on upskilling and bringing people through the system; furnishing them with the opportunity to create a sustainable living by doing what they love,” he said.
With 76 stores in Queensland and Western Australia so far, the expansion into New South Wales is the next move in Zarraffa’s plans to be the number one coffee provider in Australia and New Zealand.
“We are beyond thrilled to be taking our next steps, after building this business steadily with some incredible franchisee partners for over 20 years.”
“We now are on the cusp of major strategic expansion in our core territories of Queensland and Western Australia, with this first of a number of new opportunities in New South Wales, moving eventually to Victoria and New Zealand.”
Trent and Oliver have relocated to Belmont from Zarraffa’s base on the Gold Coast and are confident the greater Newcastle area will respond favourably to Zarraffa’s brand of coffee.
“We’ve both spent lots of time researching the local market and are awed by the local coffee culture,” explains Trent.
“I was lucky enough to be a part of the launch of the Zarraffa’s brand in Townsville and the reception for well-made, individualised coffee, available to dine in or drive thru, was phenomenal,” he says.
“It’s all about giving people their time back; whether it be through convenience to get them on their way or the opportunity to take time out and relax – we know our product and service will deliver.”
Trent has another reason to be grateful for a day surrounded by quality coffee.
“It was always a great business to be in with 5am starts, but my partner and I recently became parents to a baby girl and I’ve discovered that broken sleep and late nights can generally be dulled with a coffee, or two across the day,” he jokes.
Zarraffa’s Belmont is scheduled to open on Friday 15th December and is located at 397 Pacific Motorway Belmont North, just adjacent to Bunnings Warehouse.
