The noticeable difference in our Single Origin beans can be defined by one word: flavour.
Our latest Single Origin release takes you to the verdant hills of Indonesia, where West Java’s Sunda Highland’s ancient forests and rich volcanic soils converge to produce one of the world’s most unique and purposeful coffees. The Indonesian Java Kamandaka bean is grown at altitudes between 1,100 - 1,800 metres, nestled within the shade of native forest trees. Here, the coffee plants thrive in the delicate balance of tropical rainfall, rich volcanic soil, and the protection of the forest canopy, while also playing a critical role in preserving this natural habitat.
Aromatic and complex, Indonesian Java Kamandaka has a cupping score of 86, with a profile designed to showcase both its bright, citric acidity and its rich body. The coffee presents lively notes of tangerine and melon rind, layered with chocolate undertones and sweet red fruits. The medium body is rounded out by a subtle bitterness and a blackberry-like finish, offering a flavour experience that’s as intricate and balanced as the ecosystem that nurtures it.
More than just a delicious cup, Indonesian Java Kamandaka is part of a conservation story that began in the aftermath of a landslide disaster in 2009. The coffee’s cultivation is a direct response to the need to protect both the land and the people of the region. In collaboration with local forestry groups, farmers have been reintroducing coffee cultivation to the steep hillsides as an approach that not only stabilises the soil and reduces landslide risk but also provides sustainable income for the community.
A vibrant tangerine and melon brightness, layered with rich chocolate undertones and a subtle blackberry finish, offering a smooth balance of sweetness and complexity.
