Our latest Single Origin bean connects you to coffee's ancient roots.

OUR SEVENTEENTH SINGLE ORIGIN RELEASE PROMISES THE FLAVOUR OF CENTURIES-OLD COFFEE CULTURE. INTRODUCING, THE ETHIOPIAN SIDAMO.

Zarraffa’s Coffee’s latest Single Origin release takes you on a journey to the birthplace of coffee, Ethiopia. More than just a cup, Ethiopian Sidamo connects you to coffee’s ancient roots.

Ethiopian Sidamo specialty beans herald from Sidamo, a region of fertile highlands in the south of Ethiopia. Here, rainfall, cooler temperatures, and rich, volcanic soil come together to nurture this celebrated bean. Grown at elevations between 2000-2250 metres above sea level, Sidamo beans mature slowly, allowing them ample time to absorb a complex variety of flavours. Discover the elegant floral notes of bergamot tea, with layers of black currant and dark chocolate, and a lingering raisin-like sweetness - a flavour journey as rich as its origins.

With a cupping score of 84.5 and an omni roast profile designed for both espresso and filter, this bean captures everything specialty coffee lovers seek to experience. Ethiopian Sidamo offers the best of its flavour profile when enjoyed black, as espresso, or in milk-based beverages.

Sidamo and coffee have a deep relationship. Legend tells of a goat herder named Kaldi, whose herd led to the discovery of the coffee cherry in the Ethiopian highlands. Centuries later, Sidamo remains at the heart of Ethiopia’s coffee culture, producing beans prized for their bright acidity and complex, fruity depth. As the mother of global coffee heritage, we know the world’s arabica plants are all descendants of the early Ethiopian trees that Kaldi and his goats discovered.

Single Origin coffee is grown within a distinct geographic location, meaning the beans are sourced from either a single farm or one country. They are thus influenced by specific natural attributes such as climate, landscape, and altitude. Each Single Origin bean offers a bespoke flavour, ensuring a premium coffee experience for customers.
